“After successfully completing my second year of 4th grade, it was very evident to me how much impact one teacher can have on child’s life.  Education is not something simply used to satisfy and fill the mind with knowledge and information, but more importantly to teach and reach the heart and soul of each child(and adult) we come in contact with on a daily basis.”

Ron Farrington, Associate Administrator/Elementary Principal

“I really enjoyed teaching while in the classroom. I did not always have a passion for education, but after becoming a father and placing my own children into a Christian school, God quickly changed my position on education.

My philosophy of education is one that is built on the Word. I desire that students are prepared academically for wherever God leads them after their primary education. I love to show students that the truth or proof at the root of academics are the very truths that God provides in the Bible.

I enjoy ministering at ECS because there is no doubt in my mind that God has led me to ECS. When you are aligned with God’s leading it changes your perspective all together. God has opened my eyes to show me all of the ways that He has been preparing me to minister at ECS. I am blessed to be a part of such a strong organization, from the administration, church support, staff and faculty as well as families of ECS. I enjoy ECS because it truly is God’s school and I desire to be where God is.”

I enjoy partnering with the families at ECS and getting to know everyone, Stop by the office and say “HI” when you get a chance. One of my favorite Bible verses is Philippians 4:4-6, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

I love to teach!! I teach in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, every day at home, on the court, as well as any other opportunity offered. I have spoken in Chapel here at the school a few times and have been blessed to meet many of the students at the school. My favorite thing about teaching is fostering a love for reading and researching and asking the question “why?” I feel learning is a lifelong process, and students must be equipped with the way to find answers and then discern what is true.

Bio

  • Immediately following graduation, I was able to teach for 3 years at the High School level. At the end of my 3rd year, my husband and I welcomed our 1st born into our family. I was able to become a stay at home mom from her birth until this present year. In that time, our family has grown to 6 children, and I have been privileged to home educate them for 4 of the 6 years that they have been in school. I also have the distinct joy of coaching the High School Volleyball squad here at the school. This will be my 4th year as coach.

Loretta Tolly, second grade

“I believe that God designed, prepared and enabled me to teach children in an environment that allows me to be a witness both verbally and by example.  For that, I am so thankful.  I love what I do and feel blessed to be able to do what I love every day.  The mission of ECS is an amazing philosophy of education…in a nutshell…discipling students.  I love working here at Emmanuel because I get to work with amazing students every day, have the support of godly administrators, parents and fellow teachers, and have helpful resources to draw from!”

In order for us to be effective warriors for Christ, we must have strong armor. Young people are constantly bombarded with the lies of the world. Christian School students are the only ones who can be properly girded with the Truth. I consider it an honor and a command to use my gifts and abilities to strengthen the leaders of tomorrow.

I love teaching! I am firmly committed to Christian school education because all education should be Christ-centered to be truly as the Lord intended. “Teaching is one of the most important jobs, with such a strong influence on the lives of our young people, and I am honored to be in that position here at Emmanuel. Christian education provides such an impactful foundation for our students, and allows our students to become well equipped to live a life through a Biblical perspective. My prayer would be that my students would see the love of Christ in my actions and that I would help them to learn what it means to live a life pleasing to the Lord.”

Yvonne Youngblood, music

“I receive great joy in teaching. I feel a greater joy when I see and hear a student who is using their musical gift for His Glory or sharing that gift. I’m thankful The Lord laid on my heart, at a young age, to teach music, even before I had become saved by His Love and Grace almost twenty years ago. Music has been my passion ever since 7th grade, learning how to play many wind instruments throughout MS and HS, and continuing through college.

Why do I enjoy ministering at ECS? I daily have the opportunity to serve The Lord, and the families. It is my opinion (Christian) education builds a complete person. A person who knows how to think… and really, how to learn on his/her own through using the Gospel. Why? Because your education is up to you. You get out of it what you put into it… just like most things. Not only do I have the opportunity to watch children grow in The Lord, I’ve also grown in my own personal walk with The Lord. This has happened through personal challenges, with the Lord allowing the influences of my church family, fellow staff, faculty, administration and school families who’ve attended at ECS to guide and direct me.”

Education is an opportunity for students to discover how God has gifted each one individually and allows them to uncover and excel in the areas in which they are personally skilled and interested. It also teaches them character to persevere and strive for excellence in areas in which they do not necessarily find enjoyment or see purpose.

Jan Snyder, high school English

“Teaching is a profession that molds lives!  Unlike working in the secular business world, the classroom is where I can really effect a change in the hearts of students.

Education is something that, for me, is ongoing.  Society is constantly changing; thus, the way students learn is constantly changing.  I enjoy keeping up on the latest technology and classroom techniques in order that I can be best prepared to meet the needs of my students.

Philosophy: Education is based on truth, of which God is the ultimate source; therefore, all areas of learning relate back to the truth of God’s Word. Christian education is the result of all knowledge being tested against, and integrated with, a biblically based view of God and the world. I am empowered by the Holy Spirit to guide and nurture students through instruction, admonition, and personal example in order to encourage spiritual development with the goal of developing students who will serve God and impact their community and the world by thinking and acting biblically in all areas of life.

I enjoy ministering at ECS especially as a class advisor because being with a class for four years allows me to build into their lives in so many different ways.  Not only are they learning the subject area I teach, but also they are learning leadership skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills.  Watching them mature in areas such as these over four years is my calling.  Anyone can teach a subject.  Teaching students is the awesome privilege of teaching at a Christian School.  It is about infinitely so much more than English.”
