Music to My Ears

The philosophy of the ECS Music Department is to give the student the opportunity to serve the Lord, the student body, and the community through music. This is done through teamwork, dedication, musical excellence, and cooperation toward a successful music ministry.

Do you have a child interested in music?  Students have general music from kindergarten through fifth grade, which includes participation in the annual spring elementary program, which coincides with Grandparents' Day.  Band begins in fourth grade and choir in third grade. There is also an elementary choir available for students in grades 3-5. Do you have a child gifted in music?  Both the middle school and high school have a band and choir.  High school students also have the opportunity to participate in the praise band, which leads the music in school chapel.  Below lists several of the areas in which gifted music students can use their talents.  Call us today to schdule a visit.  We would love to meet with you!

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact the elementary music director, Yvonne Youngblood, at yyoungblood@ecstoledo.org, the band and choir director, Tim Harenda, tharenda@ecstoledo.org, or the music department assistant, Cindy Edwards, at cedwards@ecstoledo.org or by calling the school office at 419-885-3558.

Fundraisers

This is the largest fundraiser for the music department.  Without your support through Market Day program, the music department would lose funds vital to the music scholarship fund, purchase of instruments (i.e. tubular chimes, tubas, bells), and other costs that our normal budget cannot cover.  Market Day is simply monthly purchases of food items that everyone uses.  The great selection can be viewed by clicking the Market Day logo above.  For ordering purposes the music department's account number is 15300.  Twice each year we have an extra sale with Market Day with the pie sale in October (for Thanksgiving delivery) and the cookie dough sale in February.  Pies can also be purchased to donate to local food pantries, which we will deliver for you! A great way to brighten up the holiday of those in need.  Through the pie and cookie dough sales, music students can also raise funds for their personal music department expenses, such as rentals, concert attire, music tour, etc.
